Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. DTX Handyman Services is fully insured. We carry general liability insurance on every job, which protects you, your property, and our team. You should always verify insurance before letting any contractor into your home — and we're happy to provide proof of coverage upon request.
Are you veteran-owned?
Yes. DTX Handyman Services is proudly veteran-owned and woman-owned. We bring military values — precision, accountability, reliability, and discipline — to every job we take on. We hold ourselves to a higher standard because your home deserves nothing less.
Is there a fee for the estimate or service visit?
We charge a $29.99 service visit fee. Here's how it works: one of our professional technicians comes to your home, visually assesses the job, and provides you with clear, upfront pricing before any work begins. If you approve the work, that $29.99 is fully credited toward your project total — so it effectively costs nothing extra when you hire us.
The fee is only charged if no work is performed. It covers the technician's time and travel to your home, ensuring we can provide every customer with dedicated, professional attention.
Do you offer a warranty on your work?
Yes. Every job performed by DTX Handyman Services is covered by a 2-year workmanship warranty. If something we did isn't right within that period, we'll come back and make it right at no additional charge. We stand behind our work completely.
Pricing & Estimates
How does the $29.99 service visit fee work?
When you schedule a service visit, a professional DTX technician comes to your home to assess the job and provide firm, upfront pricing. This visit costs $29.99.
- If you approve the work: The $29.99 is credited toward your project total — it costs you nothing extra.
- If you don't proceed: You only pay the $29.99 service visit fee, which covers the technician's time and travel to your home.
- Your estimate is valid for 30 days — so you can take time to decide without losing your quote.
This process ensures you get a professional, accurate price in person — not a rough phone guess — before any work begins.
Can you start work the same day as the estimate visit?
In most cases, yes. When our technician comes out to assess the job, we are typically prepared to start work the same day with your approval — so you don't need to wait for a second appointment. This means you get fast, same-day service with the peace of mind of upfront pricing.
How long is my estimate valid?
All quotes from DTX Handyman Services are valid for 30 days. There's no pressure to decide immediately. If you need to check your schedule, get a second opinion, or simply sleep on it, your price is locked in for a full month.
How much does a handyman cost in Dallas?
Handyman costs in DFW depend on the service and complexity. DTX Handyman Services quotes by the job — not by the hour — so you always know the total before work starts. Pricing is provided during the $29.99 on-site service visit (credited when you hire us). See our pricing page for typical ranges by service.
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
We quote by the job, not by the hour. This means you know the total cost upfront, with no meter running. You won't be surprised by a bill that grew because the job took longer than expected.
Are there any hidden fees?
Never. The only fee beyond your project quote is the $29.99 service visit fee — and that is credited back when you approve the work. No surprise charges, no add-ons you didn't agree to, no fuel surcharges or admin fees.

Booking & Scheduling
How do I book a service?
Call or text us at 972-813-9474, or fill out our online contact form. We typically respond within a few hours during business hours. For fastest service, calling or texting directly is best.
How quickly can you get to my job?
We often have same-week availability, with most customers scheduled within 2–4 business days. Even better — in most cases, our technician can start the job the same day as the estimate visit, so you don't need to wait for a second appointment. For urgent needs, call us directly and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Do you work on weekends?
Yes. We work Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 9 PM. We understand that weekday appointments don't always work for busy households, so Saturday availability is important to us.
Do I need to be home during the job?
Yes, we require someone 18 or older to be present at the start of the job to confirm the scope and answer any questions. You don't need to supervise us throughout — we'll let you know when we're done so you can inspect the work and sign off.
Quality & Guarantees
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. Every job performed by DTX Handyman Services is backed by a 2-year workmanship warranty. If something we did isn't right — a TV that isn't level, a drywall patch that cracks, a fixture that comes loose — we'll come back and fix it at no additional charge. Our reputation depends on every job being done right.
What if something gets damaged during the job?
We are fully insured, and in the unlikely event that something is damaged during our work, our general liability insurance covers it. This is one of the most important reasons to hire an insured handyman rather than the cheapest option you can find online.
Do you clean up after the job?
Absolutely. We treat your home with respect from the moment we arrive. We protect floors and furniture during work, and we leave the work area cleaner than we found it — no drywall dust, no packaging scraps, no tools left behind.
Do you bring your own tools and materials?
We bring all necessary tools to every job. For materials (drywall compound, joint tape, screws, anchors, mounting hardware), we either include common consumables in the quote or discuss sourcing them separately depending on the job scope. We'll always be clear about what's included in your quote.
Can you handle multiple repairs in one visit?
Yes, and we encourage it. Bundling multiple repairs into a single visit is more convenient for you and often more expense-effective. Many of our customers will have us mount a TV, hang some pictures, and assemble a piece of furniture all in the same appointment. Tell us everything you need done when you reach out and we'll provide a bundled quote.
Service-Specific Questions
What types of TV mounts do you offer — fixed, tilt, or full-motion?
We install all three mount types: fixed (flat), tilting, and full-motion (articulating) mounts. We'll help you choose the right style based on your viewing angle, room layout, and wall type. Full-motion mounts are popular in open-concept Dallas homes where the TV needs to be visible from multiple areas, while tilting mounts work great for TVs placed high on the wall or above a fireplace.
Can you mount a TV above a fireplace?
Yes, we mount TVs above fireplaces regularly throughout the DFW area. We assess the wall construction, heat exposure, and appropriate mount type before starting — a tilting mount is typically recommended to bring the screen to a comfortable viewing angle. We also help manage cable routing so wires stay hidden inside the wall or through a cable management kit for a clean, finished look.
Do you repair water-damaged drywall?
Yes. Water-damaged drywall is one of the most common repairs we handle across DFW — especially after roof leaks, plumbing issues, or bathroom moisture buildup. We cut out the damaged section, replace it with new drywall, tape, mud, and texture to match the surrounding wall, and prime it ready for paint. We'll always recommend addressing the source of moisture before patching so the repair lasts.
Can you install a ceiling fan where there's no existing light fixture?
Yes. When there's no existing fixture, we install a properly rated ceiling fan brace and junction box in the ceiling, then run the wiring from the nearest switch leg or install a new switch as needed. We handle this type of installation regularly in DFW homes — it's one of the most effective upgrades for Texas summers. We'll confirm the scope and any electrical access requirements during our on-site visit.
Do you assemble standing desks and home gym equipment?
Absolutely. We assemble a wide range of furniture and equipment beyond standard flat-pack pieces — including motorized standing desks, weight racks, squat stands, cable machines, treadmills, and rowing machines. Home gym assembly has become one of our most requested services throughout Dallas, Plano, and Frisco. Just share the brand and model when you contact us and we'll confirm it's in our scope.
Can you install smart locks and video doorbells?
Yes. We install smart locks (including Schlage Encode, Kwikset Halo, Yale, and August models), video doorbells (Ring, Nest, Arlo), and full smart home security devices throughout the DFW metroplex. This includes hardwired doorbell installations that require connecting to existing wiring, as well as battery-powered setups. We also configure the devices and walk you through the app during the visit.
Do you handle both interior and exterior painting?
Yes. We handle interior painting — walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and accent walls — as well as exterior painting including fascia, soffits, shutters, fences, and full exterior repaints. Our team is experienced with the Texas climate, which means using the right exterior paints rated for heat and UV exposure common in the Dallas area. We prep all surfaces properly and protect surrounding areas before applying any paint.
Can you fix a door that won't close properly?
Yes — sticking, dragging, or misaligned doors are one of our most common repair calls. The cause is usually a combination of hinge issues, frame settling, swelling from humidity, or strike plate misalignment. We diagnose the root cause and fix it properly rather than just shaving the door edge, which is a temporary solution. DFW homes are especially prone to door alignment issues as the clay soil shifts with seasonal moisture changes.
Do you install backsplash tile?
Yes. We install backsplash tile in kitchens and bathrooms throughout the Dallas Metroplex, including subway tile, mosaic sheets, penny tile, and larger format tiles. Our tile installation includes proper surface prep, cement board or backer installation where needed, precise layout, grouting, and sealing. We can work with tile you've already purchased or help you source materials from local DFW suppliers.
Can you fix squeaky floors?
Yes. Squeaky floors are typically caused by subfloor movement, loose boards, or joist issues — all of which we diagnose and repair. For accessible squeaks, we can often fix them from below through an unfinished basement or crawlspace. For slab-on-grade homes (common throughout DFW), we address squeaks from above by securing the subfloor or flooring boards with screws and plugs. We'll give you an honest assessment of what's causing the noise before any work begins.
Do you replace garbage disposals?
Yes. We replace garbage disposals of all brands and sizes, including InSinkErator, Moen, Waste King, and Whirlpool models. We handle the full swap — disconnecting the old unit, installing the new one, reconnecting the drain plumbing, and testing for leaks. If you already have a disposal you'd like installed, we can work with it, or we can recommend a reliable replacement based on your kitchen setup.
Can you install curtain rods and blinds?
Yes. Window treatment installation is one of our most frequently requested services. We install curtain rods, drapery hardware, roller shades, cellular shades, faux wood blinds, and plantation shutters. We make sure everything is level, properly anchored into studs or with the right wall anchors, and spaced correctly for your window size. Many customers have us hang window treatments throughout their entire home in a single visit.
Trust & Quality
How long has DTX Handyman been in business?
DTX Handyman Services has been serving homeowners, renters, and property managers across the Dallas Metroplex for several years, building our reputation one job at a time. We're a locally owned, veteran- and woman-owned business with deep roots in the DFW community. Our growth has been driven almost entirely by referrals and repeat customers — which tells you everything about how we operate.
What makes DTX Handyman different from other handyman services?
Several things set us apart. We are veteran- and woman-owned, which means precision, accountability, and follow-through are core to how we work — not just marketing language. We quote by the job so there are no billing surprises. Every job is backed by a 2-year workmanship warranty, which is rare in this industry. And we take the time to actually listen to what you need before picking up a tool. We're not a call center dispatching random contractors — we're a team that shows up on time, does the job right, and stands behind it.
Do you background check your technicians?
Yes. Everyone who enters your home as part of the DTX Handyman Services team has been vetted. We take the trust you place in us seriously — you're letting someone into your home, and that requires people of character. This is another reason why hiring a legitimate, insured handyman company is safer than hiring an individual you found on a neighborhood app with no accountability structure.
Can I see examples of your previous work?
Absolutely. Our portfolio page showcases photos of completed jobs across the Dallas Metroplex, including TV mounts, drywall repairs, furniture assembly, outdoor projects, and more. You can also read verified customer reviews on our reviews page and on Google and Yelp. We're proud of our work and have nothing to hide.
Do you carry insurance for every job?
Yes, without exception. Our general liability insurance is active and covers every job we perform, regardless of size. We can provide proof of insurance upon request before you book. Never hire a handyman — for any job — who cannot provide current proof of insurance. If something goes wrong during an uninsured job in your home, you may be personally liable.
Process & Logistics
How far in advance should I schedule?
For standard jobs, we typically have availability within 2–4 business days. For larger projects or if you have a specific date in mind — such as before a move-in, a home showing, or a holiday gathering — we recommend reaching out at least one to two weeks ahead. For urgent repairs, call or text us directly at 972-813-9474 and we'll do our best to get you on the schedule quickly.
What happens if the job takes longer than expected?
Because we quote by the job rather than by the hour, the time a job takes does not change what you pay — as long as the scope stays the same. If we uncover something unexpected during the work (for example, discovering a wall cavity obstacle during a TV mount or finding rotted framing behind drywall), we'll stop, explain what we found, and get your approval on any scope change before proceeding. No surprises.
Do you bring your own tools and materials?
We bring all necessary tools and common consumables (screws, anchors, joint compound, tape, caulk, etc.) to every job. For larger material needs — such as drywall sheets, lumber, tile, or fixtures — we'll discuss during the estimate whether you'll supply the materials or we'll source them on your behalf. Either way, everything is agreed upon upfront and included in your written quote so there are no unexpected add-ons.
Can I reschedule or cancel an appointment?
Yes. We understand that life happens and schedules change. We ask for as much advance notice as possible — ideally 24 hours — so we can offer that time slot to another customer. To reschedule or cancel, simply call or text us at 972-813-9474. We're flexible and easy to work with, and we'll get you rebooked at a time that works for you.
Do you work in apartments and condos, or just houses?
We work in all residential settings — single-family homes, apartments, condos, townhomes, and duplexes throughout the Dallas Metroplex. For apartment and condo work, we're experienced with the restrictions common to multi-family buildings, such as stud placement in metal-framed walls, lease requirements for patching, and HOA guidelines. If your building has specific requirements, let us know when you book and we'll come prepared.
Do you provide written quotes before starting work?
Yes, always. After our technician assesses your job during the service visit, we provide a clear, written quote that outlines exactly what will be done and the total amount. No work begins until you've reviewed and approved the quote. This protects you and ensures we're both aligned on the scope before a single tool comes out of the bag.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major payment methods including credit cards, debit cards, Venmo, Zelle, and cash. Payment is collected at the completion of the job after you've inspected the work and are satisfied. We do not require payment upfront before work begins beyond the service visit fee.
Seasonal & Situational Questions
What home maintenance should I do before summer in Texas?
Texas summers are hard on homes, and getting ahead of maintenance in spring makes a real difference. We recommend: having your ceiling fans inspected and set to the correct summer rotation direction (counterclockwise), replacing HVAC filters to keep your system running efficiently in peak heat, checking and re-caulking windows and exterior door frames to prevent air leaks, inspecting fence boards and gate hardware that may have shifted during winter soil movement, and clearing dryer vents to prevent fire risk. We can handle all of these in a single seasonal maintenance visit — reach out to schedule yours.
Can you help prepare my home for sale?
Yes, and this is one of our most impactful service categories. Pre-sale handyman work — patching drywall, fixing sticking doors, touching up paint, replacing dated fixtures, repairing fences, and addressing deferred maintenance — can meaningfully improve a home's first impression and inspection report. We work with homeowners and real estate agents throughout DFW to get homes show-ready efficiently. Contact us with a list of items and we'll provide a bundled quote.
Do you work with property managers and landlords?
Yes. We serve a growing number of property managers, landlords, and real estate investors across the Dallas Metroplex. We understand the priority of fast turnaround between tenants, handling multiple units efficiently, and maintaining professional documentation. We're comfortable coordinating directly with property managers and tenants, and we can set up an ongoing service relationship for properties with regular maintenance needs. Contact us to discuss your property management needs.
