Our Service Visit & Pricing Process

  • $39.99 service visit fee — a professional technician visits your home, assesses the job, and provides firm, upfront pricing before any work begins.
  • Credited toward your project — if you approve the work, the $39.99 is applied to your total. It costs nothing extra when you hire us.
  • Same-day service available — in most cases, we can start work the same day as the estimate visit.
  • Quote valid for 30 days — your price is locked in with no pressure to decide immediately.
  • 2-year workmanship warranty — all work is backed by our warranty for your peace of mind.

The $39.99 service fee is only charged if no work is performed.

At DTX Handyman Services, we believe pricing should be simple and honest. We quote by the job — not by the hour — so you know your total cost before we pick up a single tool. There's no meter running, no surprise add-ons, and no bill that's different from what we quoted.

When you call or text us, we'll ask a few questions about your project and give you a firm quote over the phone for most standard jobs. For larger or more complex work, we may schedule a brief in-person assessment to give you the most accurate quote. Either way, you approve the quote before we begin.

The quote ranges below reflect typical costs for each service in the DFW market. Your actual quote may vary slightly based on specific factors — but we'll always explain why and get your agreement first.

TV Mounting

  • Basic flat/tilt mount on drywall: a flat-rate quote
  • Full-motion articulating mount: a flat-rate quote
  • In-wall wire concealment (add-on): a flat-rate quote
  • Brick, stone, or concrete wall (add-on): a flat-rate quote
  • Over-fireplace mounting: a flat-rate quote

Mount/bracket supplied by customer or sourced for an additional fee. All sizes from 32" to 85"+.

Drywall Repair

  • Nail holes, small dings, hairline cracks: a flat-rate quote
  • Small holes (1–4 inches): a flat-rate quote
  • Medium holes (4–8 inches): a flat-rate quote
  • Large section repair (8+ inches or multiple holes): a flat-rate quote
  • Water-damaged sections: Quoted on inspection
  • Ceiling repair: Same ranges, slight premium for overhead work

All repairs delivered to paint-ready finish with texture matching.

Furniture Assembly

  • Simple items (nightstand, small bookshelf, side table): a flat-rate quote
  • Medium items (dresser, desk, TV console, dining table): a flat-rate quote
  • Large/complex items (wardrobe, PAX system, sectional sofa): a flat-rate quote+
  • Multiple items (same visit): Bundled rate available

We assemble IKEA, Wayfair, Amazon, West Elm, and all major retailers.

Light Fixture Installation

  • Standard flush-mount or semi-flush ceiling light: a flat-rate quote
  • Pendant light or small chandelier: a flat-rate quote
  • Large chandelier (assembly required): a flat-rate quote
  • Bathroom vanity bar or sconce: a flat-rate quote
  • Outdoor wall sconce or floodlight: a flat-rate quote
  • Recessed light trim replacement: quoted per fixture

Fixture supplied by customer. Installation where wiring already exists.

Ceiling Fan Installation

  • Standard ceiling fan installation: a flat-rate quote
  • Vaulted/sloped ceiling (angled mount required): a flat-rate quote
  • Electrical box upgrade (if needed): add an upfront-quoted charge
  • Old fan removal and disposal: add an upfront-quoted charge

Fan supplied by customer. Includes balancing and full function test.

Smart Home Device Installation

  • Smart thermostat (Nest, Ecobee): a flat-rate quote
  • Video doorbell (Ring, Nest): a flat-rate quote
  • Smart lock installation: a flat-rate quote
  • Smart switch or dimmer (per switch): a flat-rate quote
  • C-wire installation for thermostat: add an upfront-quoted charge

All installations include WiFi setup, app registration, and function testing.

Picture & Mirror Hanging

  • Single framed picture or art piece: a flat-rate quote
  • Large or heavy mirror (over 20 lbs): a flat-rate quote
  • Gallery wall (8–12 pieces): a flat-rate quote

Shelving Installation

  • Single shelf (floating or bracket-mounted): a flat-rate quote
  • Multiple shelves or shelving system: a flat-rate quote
  • Closet shelving systems (ClosetMaid, IKEA PAX interior): a flat-rate quote

Faucet Replacement

  • Kitchen or bathroom faucet replacement: a flat-rate quote

Faucet supplied by customer. Includes shutoff valve inspection.

Toilet Repair & Installation

  • Toilet flapper/fill valve repair: a flat-rate quote
  • Full toilet replacement: a flat-rate quote

Toilet supplied by customer for replacement jobs.

Minor Plumbing Repairs

  • Minor leak repair, supply line replacement, shutoff valve replacement: a flat-rate quote

We handle minor plumbing repairs only. We refer major plumbing work to licensed plumbers.

Door Repair

  • Door adjustment, strike plate repair, hinge tightening: a flat-rate quote
  • Door replacement (pre-hung or slab): a flat-rate quote

Window Repair

  • Screen replacement, latch repair, balance replacement: a flat-rate quote
  • Window frame repair or weatherstripping: a flat-rate quote

What Affects Handyman estimates

Several factors influence where a job falls within the quote range above:

  • Job complexity: A simple TV mount on drywall is faster and simpler than mounting above a brick fireplace. More complex jobs take more time and require more specialized hardware.
  • Materials needed: For jobs where we supply materials (drywall compound, anchors, mounting hardware), material cost is factored into the quote. For jobs where you supply the fixture or product, labor is the primary cost.
  • Number of items: Bundling multiple jobs in one visit is more efficient for everyone. We often offer a reduced per-item rate when multiple repairs are combined.
  • Wall and ceiling type: Masonry walls (brick, stone, concrete) require additional equipment and time compared to standard drywall. Vaulted ceilings, high ceilings, or unusual configurations may add a small premium.
  • Existing conditions: Occasionally we discover conditions during a job that require additional work — an undersized electrical box, a wall anchor that needs upgrading, or a water-damaged area larger than initially visible. We always discuss these with you before proceeding.
